So you want more money....but you don't know where to start.
You might be tempted to ask for more money now that you've survived a round of layoffs and have increased your responsibilities to make up for people that are gone. A good place to start is to document everything you do. Make a list of the original responsibilities from when you were hired and then another list of the responsibilities you've taken on. Then sit down with your boss and let them see it in writing. Hopefully they will hand over a nice raise based on your increased responsibilities. But don't count on this being all it takes to get more cash in your paycheck. They may not be willing to budge. If they don't budge on your salary, try asking for increased benefits-- maybe more vacation time or the opportunity to work a flexible schedule. Once they have the written proof of your increased responsibilities it's alot easier to get some sort of recognition of your hard work.
